Our Philosophy

"We don't fit the patient to a procedure, we find the right procedure for the patient. And if you're not a candidate, we tell you."

— Dr. Mark Speaker

Some practices offer one procedure, so every patient gets that procedure. We offer the full range under one roof: LASIK, PRK, EVO ICL, refractive lens exchange, and corneal cross-linking. Your evaluation determines the recommendation, not the other way around.

That range means we can treat almost anyone: from a routine eye exam to prescriptions as high as -24 through staged combination procedures. And when the honest answer is that surgery isn't right for you, that's the answer you'll get.

LASIK is a corneal procedure, yet fewer than one in five ophthalmologists complete the additional fellowship year in corneal surgery. Both of our founding surgeons did, and before founding this practice, they were teaching the next generation of New York's eye surgeons.

Fun Fact
They trusted each other with their own eyes. Dr. Abramson performed Dr. Speaker's LASIK, and he performed hers.

Care That Continues After Surgery

Your care does not end on surgery day. Our doctors, Drs. Giordana Avila, Aya Egger, Jennifer Marques, and Evan Kaplan work alongside your surgeon through evaluation, pre-operative testing, and every post-operative visit, so you see familiar faces from your first exam through your last follow-up.

Concierge Care, Not an Assembly Line

In an era of corporate medicine, we've deliberately built the opposite: a concierge-style practice where you have direct access to your surgeon at every step.

Before your surgery:
A personal call from your surgeon.

Beyond your in-office consultation, your surgeon personally calls you before surgery to answer final questions and make sure you feel ready for the day ahead.

The day of surgery:
Guided through, at your pace.

It is perfectly fine to feel nervous and excited on the day of your surgery. If you need extra time, you get extra time. Nearly every patient tells us afterwards that the procedure was far easier than they imagined.

After your surgery:
Your surgeon's personal cell number.

After surgery, your surgeon personally checks in on you, and you'll have a direct number for questions, nights and weekends included. Your follow-up care continues with the same doctors and specialists you've known from your first visit.
