Laser Vision Correction
PRK Eye Surgery (Photorefractive Keratectomy),
is an elective, outpatient laser vision correction procedure to improve vision and reduce or eliminate the need for eyeglasses or contact lenses. In the PRK laser vision correction procedure, our surgeon utilizes the excimer laser to reshape the curvature of the eye for patients with nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.

Wavefront Technology
With Custom Laser Vision Correction, Your surgeon is able to focus on the quantity as well as the quality of your vision. Many patients who have had Custom Laser Vision Correction are reporting the ability to see clearer than ever before. Custom Laser Vision Correction uses a Wavefront Analyzer to measure the way light travels through your eye. The Wavefront Analyzer creates a customized 3-D map of your eye that looks at your entire optical system. This map provides information about the unique visual characteristics of your eye which adds an additional level of data about your vision, enabling your refractive surgeon to further customize your vision correction. This map that is created is then used to guide the laser during your laser vision correction procedure for optimal results.
Why PRK?
In general, PRK is the most common form of laser resurfacing in patients with anatomy not suitable for LASIK. It is also the most common method by which an enhancement is performed if a patient has a history of prior laser vision correction. General benefits of PRK:
Less dry eye than LASIK
Able to treat patients who may not be good anatomical candidates for LASIK or SMILE
Great precision and accuracy
Great flexibility and treatment options for a wider variety of patients
Excellent outcomes
Long term medical studies show no difference in vision or visual quality whether a patient has had LASIK or PRK
No flap as with LASIK; no long-term risk of flap complications as with LASIK
Technology that has been used in millions of procedures worldwide
Your surgeon will discuss with you whether PRK vision correction is a good option for you.
