Giordana Avila, OD

Dr. Giordana Avila enjoys being a primary care optometrist with more than 20 years of experience. She is dedicated to helping patients see better while listening to their eyecare concerns and needs. Her gentle manner and down-to-earth approach are apparent whether she is examining patients for annual check ups or participating in pre- and post- surgical eye-care.

She welcomes the opportunity to meet new patients and develop lasting relationships over many years. “To be able to care for a person’s eyes as they go through different phases in their life is truly a rewarding profession”.

Dr. Avila received her bachelor’s degree in Biology from Manhattan College, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She then earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry, as well as a bachelor’s in Visual Science. She completed residency training in Primacy Care/Ocular disease at the Brooklyn and the St. Alban’s campuses of the VA NY Harbor Healthcare System.

One of her favorite memories during her optometry education is completing a successful SVOSH mission trip to Guatemala where volunteers examined more than 5,000 locals and distributed glasses. She has been known to say this amazing experience allowed her to see the world and her journey through it in a life-changing way.

Dr. Avila works closely with Dr. Abramson at the White Plains office surgeons, and works with patients undergoing cataract surgery, corneal cross-linking, laser vision correction, and other eye conditions and procedures.

Outside the office, Dr. Giordana Avila spends her time with her husband & 3 kids.
